I once had someone ask me, with a sort of shyly awed tone, if it was true that I'd had a relationship with Corinne Tucker, of Sleater-Kinney. I couldn't just let that go, so I hinted at yes, but the truth is I don't know her at all. I caught the riff for it sitting on my bed one afternoon in Bolivia when I was 21. That was '96. I finished the song about a year later. It sat in my wheelhouse a long time before I recorded it.
